Mohamed Abdirahman Mohamed is a Somali‐Australian Economist by training and is currently doubling up as the Senior Security Advisor to the Puntland President and also the Director of Regional Security Office (RSO).
Before this endeavor, he established and at the same time served as the Director of the Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF) under the former Puntland Administration’s tenure of office [2009-2014].
In the year 2009-2010 Mohamed was appointed as the Senior Communications Director at the Puntland President’s Office due to his extensive experience in the security sector in Puntland and Somalia in general. In the same year (2010), he became a Media Advisor to the Puntland President before he launched the fruitful Anti-Piracy Campaign.
Following Somali state collapse in 1991 and subsequently the formation of Somalia’s leading pioneer state of Puntland in 1998, he founded first radio station in the state capital city (Garowe) as well as its sister publication Garowe Online, a bilingual (English and Somali Languages) news site which publishes Somalia stories daily.
Mohamad graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics from the Somali National University (SNU) in 1989 and worked for ministry of Planning and International relations. As a follow-up approach in 1998.
